Which is why, in order to gear up for the 2016 Emmy Awards, we tapped the Project Runway nominee for her must-have red carpet checklist. See her tips below.
1. Keep the prep simple
“I get hair and makeup, I don’t know how many times a week,” says Klum, 43. “So I go about my day like any other day, then I jump in my outfit, hop in the car and I go.”

“Awards shows can be long, so I bring a little snack or a granola bar with me,” says Klum. She’s also ready for touch-ups: “For the heat, blotting paper is a must, and I always have lip gloss.”

“I like to be unexpected with what I’m wearing, and I love to push boundaries,” says Klum. “A lot of girls are afraid to be on the ‘don’t’ page the next day. I go for it.”

“We’re either toasting a win, or sometimes we toast that we were losers,” Klum says. “Most of the time that’s the case. No matter what, it’s fun.”
