FG Hails President Buhari's global endorsement, appeals for Nigerians support




The Nigerian government, through Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the country's information and culture minister, has hailed what it called "ringing" global backing of President Muhammadu Buhari received from world leaders during his recent trip to the United States for 71 session of the UN General Assembly.
The federal Government also appealed to Nigerians to continue to support president.While appealling to Nigerians to continue to support President Buhari, FG in a statement in Lagos on Sunday, the Minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, was especially happy to hear from world leaders that President Buhari  is a determined and committed leader and his integrity have given Nigeria a positive image in the comity of nations.In a statement issued in Lagos Sunday, september 25, and made available to newsmen, the minister said that it was particularly nice to hear from world leaders that President Buhari determined and committed leadership and his integrity have given Nigeria a positive image in the comity of nations. Buhari returned to the country on the same day the statement was issued by Mohammed. He has been acclaimed to represent Nigeria well at the international event. The minister said the global community appreciation of the giant strides made by President Buhari administration in the fight against terrorism and corruption, as well as deftly manage the nation's economy in a time of global economic downturn is an indication that the administration is on course in his quest to secure a better life for people. "These three fields (economic, security and the fight against corruption) are the priorities of the Buhari administration, and its efforts have not gone unnoticed globally, despite attempts naysayers to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians. World leaders, including US President Barrack Obama, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, French President Francois Hollande and President of Switzerland Johann Schneider-Ammann all took turns praising President Buhari leadership. "This should be a source of hope and pride to Nigerians who have borne the burden of the problems associated with the current economic downturn and its negative global image in the past. While thanking Nigerians for their endurance, there is no doubt that by continuing to give their unalloyed support for the president, they will ensure that these hard times will not last, "said Alhaji Mohammed. He said that the president was able to highlight and seek a global focal point on critical issues problems which in turn will have a positive effect on the country.The statement read: "the president sent" a clear and direct message "to the world leaders on issues such as poverty, climate change, terrorism, the situation for internally displaced as a result of Boko Haram activities, diversification of economy and creation of favorable environment for foreign direct investment in Nigeria. "The timing of the president's message and the platform where he highlighted these issues could not have been more apt, and it will undoubtedly complement the administration's efforts to address these key issues." Alhaji Mohammed expressed optimism that the country would soon begin to reap the benefits of the US-Africa Business Forum and meeting with top Nigerian professionals that took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
